My knee felt tight after yesterday's squats. Should I push through or back off?

RC
Dr. Rachel C., DPT

Good call reaching out. Skip lunges today and do these two stretches instead. Ice for 15 min after. If it doesn't ease by Friday, we'll adjust your plan.

The gap no one has filled

A week with Setback

Here's what recovery looks like when your PT works around your schedule.

Tuesday
6:30 PM
Therapist

Your therapist watches your video and sends a 2-minute voice note: your squat form is improving, but slow down the descent. She updates your program for next week.

Wednesday
9:15 AM
You

Your knee feels tight after yesterday's session. You message your therapist asking whether to push through or back off.

Wednesday

Your therapist responds: ice it, skip lunges today, do these two stretches instead. If it doesn't ease by Friday, she'll adjust your plan.

Friday
7:00 AM
You

Do your updated exercises. The squats feel easier this time. You record and send the video.

Friday
8:30 PM
Therapist

Your therapist confirms you're ready to progress next week. She adds two new exercises and bumps up your rep count.

Your own dedicated physical therapist

Same licensed therapist every session. They know your injury, your history, and your goals. Not a chatbot. Not a different person every time.

Weekly video reviews with voice note feedback

Record your exercises with your phone. Your therapist watches and sends back a detailed voice note: what you're doing well, what to fix, what changes next week.

A recovery plan that adapts as you heal

Your therapist adjusts your program every week based on what they see. Not a generic PDF. A living plan that progresses with you.

Message your therapist anytime

Swelling after a session? Unsure about an exercise? Message your therapist directly and get a response within hours. No appointment needed.

Escalation when you need it

If your therapist sees something that needs in-person attention, they'll tell you directly and help you find the right provider nearby.

Who We Are

Our founder spent years at Meta and startups building social impact products that reached billions of people.

He grew up playing soccer and hockey, and has shifted to running, lifting, and snowboarding as he's gotten older. Along the way, torn ankle ligaments, chronic IT band issues, and a broken femur have put him through PT more times than he'd like. Every time, the same problem: great care in the clinic, zero support between visits.

He's an athlete at heart who believes everyone deserves a body that supports the life they want to live. He built Setback to make that possible. We're working with licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy to deliver expert recovery guidance that fits how active people actually live.
